Abnormal pressure
When the compressor fails to meet the flow requirements of the user at the rated pressure, the exhaust pressure is bound to decrease. To deal with this issue, one may have to switch to a machine with the same exhaust pressure but a larger exhaust volume. The main reason behind abnormal interstage pressure is typically related to air valve leakage or piston ring wear and air leakage after wear. Thus, one must focus on identifying the causes and taking corrective actions accordingly to combat this problem.

Abnormal noise
Abnormal sounds from a compressor can indicate various component failures. The operator's trained ear can usually identify the cause of such sounds. For example, a knocking sound may occur due to insufficient clearance between the piston and cylinder head, a loose or detached connecting nut, or a loose piston plug. Metal debris and water accumulation in the cylinder can also cause knocking sounds. Mechanisms inside the crankcase, such as loose or broken bolts and severe wear on the shaft diameter or crosshead pin and bushing, can also produce knocking. Valve chamber knocking may occur due to broken exhaust valve plates or damaged valve springs, or as a result of improperly adjusted load regulators. A thorough diagnosis of the problem is essential to ensure appropriate corrective action is taken.
